Materials explained

What is inside a 24/sync patch?

Ingredients, adhesive, face film and liner: understand the distinct parts of a patch and what the current documentation tells us.
By 24/sync Published Editorial review 3 min read

The construction, explained

Three materials. Distinct roles.

  1. Clear face film

The outward-facing polyethylene film described in the composition references.

  2. Adhesive

A pressure-sensitive acrylic copolymer adhesive, used to hold the patch against skin.

  3. Removable liner

Protects the adhesive before use. Removed for application; it is not worn.

And the listed ingredients? They are described separately from these construction materials. This illustration does not show the formulation’s location or distribution; those details require the exact specification. It is not a measurement of ingredient delivery.

A patch is a complete physical product: a formulation, plus the materials that let you handle and wear it. Knowing each part makes product information easy to read, especially if you want to know what touches your skin and what an ingredient amount means.

Our patches are transparent. The composition references reviewed on 25 September 2026 describe a clear polyethylene face film, an acrylic copolymer adhesive and a removable release liner. You can read them in Science & standards.

The parts, explained

The listed ingredients

These are the actives that make each patch what it is, built into the adhesive layer. They vary by patch, and every one is on the label with its amount, down to the milligram.

The adhesive

This holds the patch against the skin. The current composition references describe a pressure-sensitive acrylic copolymer adhesive. “Pressure-sensitive” describes an adhesive designed to stick when pressed into contact. In a 24/sync patch it also carries the actives, holding them against your skin and designed to release them steadily across the hours you wear it.

The face film

This is the outward-facing layer. The references identify clear polyethylene: it is why the patch is transparent on your skin.

The release liner

This is the removable material protecting the adhesive before use. It is taken away when applying the patch and is not intended to be worn. Follow the instructions supplied with your product for handling and application.

Every format has a structure

Every usable format needs supporting materials. A capsule needs a shell; a gel needs a base; an adhesive patch needs a film and an adhesive. Each has a job, and on a 24/sync patch you can name every one.

Medicinal patches come in different constructions, including formulations held within an adhesive matrix or a separate reservoir; the FDA illustrates those general designs. A 24/sync patch keeps it simple: the actives sit in the adhesive layer itself. No needles, no device.

What an ingredient amount means

The amounts on a 24/sync label are the amounts in the patch: what goes into the adhesive layer, listed down to the milligram. The patch is designed to release them steadily across the wear time, not in one hit.

For more on reading those numbers, see what the amount on a patch label means. Check the chemical form too: related ingredient names can describe different substances, and the label gives you the exact one.

How to use this information before buying

Start with the individual product you are considering. Read its ingredient information, use instructions and precautions together. If you have a known sensitivity, ask about the exact material before choosing.

Where a particular ingredient or material is decisive for you, ask us and we will confirm it before you order. The evidence register sets out the composition references for the range.
